Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort is nestled amongst the numerous dive shops and operators that dot Route US-1 in the Florida Keys. It's one of the hidden gems of the Upper Keys, and the diving is mainly in the Pennekamp Marine Park. There are also trips out to some of the area's wrecks such as the Duane and the Spiegel Grove. There's a feeling of Americana the permeates this area, and the bars and restaurants are filled with divers telling tall tales of days gone by, and what they saw this morning. It's a relaxing atmosphere if you like southern hospitality and sweet iced tea, along with some very easy and shallow dives on a protected reef. Now don't go comparing the diving here to anywhere else in the world, because you're still in the continental USA, so it's not fair to compare it to a place like Rarotonga, 'cause that ain't in the lower 48! Good clean fun for the whole family, with some great fish interactions, like the Goliath Grouper that likes to hang out and get his picture taken.
